INTERNATIONAL WMS 1ST VICE PRESIDENT

Deborah Taylor King

Deborah Taylor King is a native of Austin, Texas. Her education was obtained through the Austin Public School System and St. Edward’s University. She is a life long member of Grant AME Worship Center, where she faithfully serves as a Steward under the leadership of Rev. Adam T. Carrington.

Deborah is a committed force for missions, passionately devoting her time and talents to the Women’s Missionary Society as former 10th Episcopal District President and 1st Vice President. She has also served as the Connectional Chairperson – Research and Status of Black Women (RSBW), Conference Recording Secretary, Area Chairperson, Local President and a Local Sunday School Teacher. She has traveled to South Africa, Johannesburg, Namibia, England and Amsterdam to experience the various cultures that make up the African Diaspora and to unite with sisters of African ancestry.

Giving unselfishly, Deborah has been actively involved on many boards. Her affiliations have included: Graduate- Leadership Austin, Austin Area Urban League – Vice President, Professional Women of Southwestern Bell, Black Professional Women of Austin, Black Women’s Agenda, Church Women United and Loaned Executive for United Way.

She is a retired Area Manager at AT&T in San Antonio, Texas.

Deborah is married to Charles E. King and they are the parents of one grown son, Travis and one grandson, Dezmond.

She is an anointed woman of God, who stands on the belief that “only what you do for Christ will last!”back

Judith Bluitt Redd

Judith B. Redd - Trustee, WMS Foundation Inc. and Chair of the Fund Development Committee. She co-chaired the Foundation Inaugural Luncheon Committee in 2011 and has assisted with the annual Foundation Appeal and Membership Drive since 2008 which resulted in revenues of more than $250,000. Her past experience in Fund Development includes recognition as Corporate Leader for the first corporate campaign to raise more than $100,000 for the American Heart Association "Heartwalk" in Fort Worth, Texas. back

the 10th Episcopal YPD Director

Carmen Elizabeth Jones-Paige

Carmen began her early christian training in Allen Temple AME Church, Cincinnati, OH. Her fathers military career moved them to San Antonio, TX where the family worshipped with Bethel AME Church, when SBC (now AT&T) transferred her to Dallas, TX she joined Smith Chapel AME Church.

Carmen has served in many capacities from the local church Sunshine Band to the Connectional YPD Executive Board, where in 1991 in Baltimore, MD she was elected Connectional YPD Historiographer/Statistician. She serves her local church as a missionary in the Burton-Johnson YWI Unit, Vacation Bible School Director, and Youth Council.

Carmen is a member of the Young Women's Initiative of the Women's' Missionary Society. She has developed creative programs, team building exercises, and demonstrated leadership skills with Young People. Carmen the 10th Episcopal District YPD Director in November 2007, by Bishop Gregory G. M. Ingram and Rev. Dr. Jessica Ingram. Carmen also worships GOD through song with Sisters of Triumph as a Soprano/Alto.

Carmen is an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho and Crusaders, her willingness to serve God is ever present through outreach and service to the community.

She has 2 beautiful daughters, 22 year old Ravonne (Ra) and 2 year old Melodi (Mel). She has been employed with AT&T for 16 years, and resides in Dallas, TX. More than anything Carmen loves the Lord, and feels that all young people should be given the training needed to further the kingdom.

Shamara Hodge

Mrs. Shamra Hodge currently serves as the 10th District 2nd Vice President of Women's Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. As the 2nd Vice President of the Women's Missionary Society, the Elnita McClain Women's Center, Inc. falls under her responsibilities. The Elnita McClain Women's Center, Inc. is a facility owned by the 10th District where several social services are offered to improve the quality of life for women and children. Mrs. Hodge is a member of Stearne Chapel A.M.E. Church - Bryan. back

Ladette Williams

Ms. Ladette Williams serves as WMS Third Vice President of the Tenth Episcopal District. She has served the in the local, area, conference & district societies: District Third Vice-President (current), North Texas Conference Treasurer, Area YPD Director, Greater Allen Temple Elizabeth Boles WMS Local President, 1st Vice President, YPD Director, Praise & Worship Leader, & PME Director (current). Ladette is a life member of Greater Allen Temple AME Church- Rev. Mary Q. Miller, Pastor. back

Patricia Thornton

Patricia Tolliver Thornton has served the WMS locally as Missionary President, YPD Director, Secretary and mentor to YWI. On the District level she has served as Creative Arts Chairperson, Assistant Recording Secretary and Recording Secretary (current). She has attended Quadrennials, WMS Executive Boards, Biennials, and General Conferences. She is a proud member of Smith Chapel AME Church in Dallas Rev. Darrell Caldwell, Sr. is the Senior Pastor. back

Vanessa Johnson

Vanessa Renee Johnson has served as the 10th District WMS Treasure for the past two years. She has previously served as the Treasurer for both the Northwest Texas conference and North Texas conference, Conference Nominating Chair, Conference Tanner-Turner Chairperson and as an Area YPD Director. She is an active member of Historic Allen Chapel AME Church, Fort Worth, where she currently serves as president of the Maggie E. Thompson Missionary Society. back

Mary A. Griffin

Evangelist Mary A. Griffith, 10th District Worship Leader, has served as President of her local Women's Missionary Society and currently serves as the Worship Leader for the 10th Episcopal District WMS. She is a member and 1st Lady at Wesley AME Church in Houston. back

Jean Wainwright

Jean Wainwright serves as the 10th Episcopal District PME Director. She is a member of Bethel AME Church - San Antonio, where she has served as Vice- President of the Annie E. Hunt Missionary Society, Secretary, Mentor for YWI , YPD Instructor for Allen Stars, Arts and Crafts Director (Local, Area, Conference) Y. P.D Director (Local ,Area) PME Director (Local, Area, Conference, 10th District) , and Connectional PME Committee Advisory Board. back

Ida Lois King

Ida Lois King is a member of Metropolitan AME Church, Austin. She has been President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Parliamentarian and Historian of the Carrie B. Warren Missionary Society. On the Conference Level she has held the following positions; Destiny Mentor, Historian, and Parliamentarian. On the Episcopal level she held the positions of Parliamentarian and her current position of Historian. back

Gwendolyn Lawson

Ms. Gwendolyn Lawson serves as 10th District WMS Parliamentarian. She is a WMS Life Member who has served for more than 50 years. She has held offices in the Local, Area, Conference and Episcopal District. Ms Lawson has a passion for mission work that goes beyond the church. back

Sonya Anderson

Sonya Anderson currently serves as the 10th District YWI Member-at-Large. Her past offices include serving as the Southwest Texas 3rd Vice President. She is a member of Vision of Hope African Methodist Episcopal Church in Austin, where she serves as local Women's Missionary President. back

Cheryl Jones

Cheryl Jones is a member of Shorter Chapel AME Church in Giddings where her pastor is Rev. Dr. Leonard Alfred. At Shorter Chapel, Cheryl serves as the Women's Missionary Society President. Cheryl has served on every level in the Women's Missionary Society: Local: W.M.S. Unit Chairperson, W.M.S. Unit Recording Secretary Area: Recording Secretary Instructor Conference: W.M.S. Recording Secretary, Research and Status of Black Women's Committee Chairperson W.M.S. District: W.M.S. Recording Secretary, W.M.S. First Vice President, Connectional: W.M.S. Recording Secretary, W.M.S. Assistant Recording Secretary. She currently serves as the Connectional W.M.S. Recording Secretary. back

Claudia Dunemann

Claudia K. Dunemann is a licensed Missionary, who served 26 years working in the mission fields of Africa, Hungary, Russia, Czechoslovakia, Holland and Germany Main objective: Save the Children. She is a member Lee Chapel AME Church, Dallas. Claudia has served in the 10th Episcopal District WMS as Area Chair Person (1997-1999) and currently serves as WMS Conference Branch President. back

Janice Brown

Janice M. Brown: Janice attends Anderson Chapel, Killeen, Texas under the leadership of Rev. William Melvin Campbell Jr. She serve as the director of the Young People's and Children's Division in her local Church. She has served the WMS as Area Chair (3 years), Conference President (4 years), and currently serves as the proud Conference Branch President of the Noble Northwest Texas Women's Missionary Society. The scripture that she lives by is "Matthew 6:33 Seek Ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteous and all these thing will be added unto it." back

Romella Jones

Romella Rhodes Jones, North Texas Conference YPD Director, is a member of St. Paul AME Church, Dallas. She has worked and served as an officer on the local, area, conference and district levels of the Young People's Department of the AME Church. Romella, enjoy the job as Conference YPD Director because the position allows her to bring youth together and help educate them to want to GROW spiritually, GLOW in their gifts and to GO be a witness for CHRIST!back
